Come and immerse yourself in a creative and joyful week of unaccompanied harmony singing in Cornwall, led by two experienced choir leaders, in beautiful surroundings and professional-standard facilities. This is an exceptional opportunity to sing at the University of Falmouth, in the new CORE building at the St Ives Community Orchard with its beautiful acoustic and at Tate St Ives; led by Pip Wright (Kana Kernow) and Jane Harris (Songways). The combination of singing leaders and stunning locations while being shaped into a choir over five days will be a rich choral and cultural experience. This will be a memorable week, with insights into Cornish culture, links to the places where we sing, opportunities to be creative and playful, tips for healthy voice use and effective choral vocal technique, and a chance to take part in a ‘scratch band’ and experience a Nos Lowen (a Cornish Ceilidh) Choir in a week course dates: 21 – 25 July 2025. This course is suitable for experienced amateur singers who enjoy singing music of different genres and are confident to be able to hold their part with 5 or 6 other voices in an unaccompanied (a cappella) choir. Reading music is not required, as Pip and Jane teach by ear with scores provided as appropriate. However, you will be invited to rate your music reading ability once you have booked your place, to help Pip and Jane to plan the repertoire for the group. Once you have booked your place you will be sent a participant form where we’ll ask you for some more information, including about your music reading ability, scratch band preferences, workshop preferences and any dietary or access requirements.
