BA Graphic Design London Trip October 2022

A trip to visit design studios in London. The trip offers an invaluable insight into the design industry, from small boutique studios to some of the best design studios in the world.

Detailed Description

This trip runs from Monday 31st October to Wednesday 2nd November.

In 2019 we visited 26 studios across three days. Each student visited two studios a day (one in the morning, one in the afternoon). Studios included UsTwo, Kessels Kramer, B&B, Someone, The Chase, Wolff Olins, Pentagram, Brand Union. Visits are scheduled and assigned by the lecturing team.

Students arrange their own travel and accommodation and are also welcome to stay on in London for the duration of the week to visit galleries and museums. Students must be in London from 9am on Monday 31st October through to 4.30pm on Wednesday 2nd November for the studio visits.

NB: Students will be booking their own travel and accommodation and travelling and staying independently of the University staff. As such, the students have a responsibility to behave sensibly and appropriately whilst on the trip.  Students must take due care and attention for their own health and safety. Students are advised to book their accommodation through reputable travel operators.  It is also their responsibility to purchase their own individual travel insurance for the trip.

Please note also that staff and students driving their own vehicles will need ‘business use’ on their personal car insurance policies  - most insurance policies are for ‘Social, Domestic, Pleasure and Commuting’ which wouldn’t cover this trip.

NB please check all accomodation booked has credible reviews as students have had problems with bookings where reviews have not been read and cross referenced.

Students are asked to look at the new ‘Student Safety’ course which has been developed. It includes training on the following areas: General safety information; links to SafeZone; links to the new student Risk Assessments in the Stores system and a wide variety of e-learning courses including: working at height; manual handling; fire safety; electrical safety; driving safety and more.

By signing up you are committing to the trip and must ensure you are available to travel to your studio visits. Sign-up closes at 5pm on Thursday 28th September 2022.
